Another Reason To Hate The PC

Dating back as far as my earliest days in business, when the PC was the standard, I have hated printing documents. Inevitably, something gets screwed up between Windows and the printer about 1 out of 15 times you go to print. Trying to fix the problem is always a game of cat and mouse. Do you open the printer dialog box in Windows and cancel or delete the document queue? Why bother??! It never works anyway. And what exactly is the difference between cancel and delete in that dialog box. What if you just want to stop the printing of a document period? I just sent a document to the printer and near the end the black ink ran dry, so I got another cartridge ready and before I printed the next similar document, I swapped a new cartridge in. Of course, the printer wants take control of the situation and "align" the new cartridge, so it automatically spits out one of those scannable align documents. I tried to avoid this and click on the cancel button, because I just wanted to print the next document. So, I clicked print... and voila. Nothing. The queue shows it there, but nothing is happening. So, I tried deleting the item from queue and of course, the Windows dialog now shows "deleting-printing" for about 20 minutes. How long does it take to delete a simple document from queue? Why is it always such a hassle? I suppose I will now do that famous trick that all PC users know and love... REBOOT!

I have experienced this with any type of printer, so I know the printer is not specifically at fault here, though I don't like how the printer spits out that scannable sheet (I have sent about 100 of that same sheet to the shredders - what a waste!). However, the real issue is with the PC.

Just another reason to stick with my MAC. If you are sitting on the fence as to whether to make the switch from PC to MAC, do yourself a favour... get the MAC...
